Training Frequently Asked Questions

  • At Integrity K9 Academy we offer several board and train options for your dog that will improve your relationship with your loyal friend. We can train your dog if your dog has no training at all.

Alternatively, if your dog already has basic obedience and obeys you on leash, we can train your dog to obey every command off leash including sit, stay, come, down, place (go to a designated place in your home and stay there), and even party tricks like sit pretty, shake, and roll over. We can improve socialization skills and work with aggressive dogs.

We also offer dog certifications with national organizations, sport certification, and entry level personal protection. The more your dog is trained the better behaved it will be and the closer your bond will be.

  • We have years of expertise in the dog boarding and training areas and provide the highest quality care to our dogs. Our Pet Pals and trainers are dedicated and passionate animal enthusiasts who care about your dog.

We offer a high quality, clean facility, and lots of play yard areas where we supervise and play with your dog. And of course, lots of love, pets, and treats throughout each day! We even offer upscale cabins for your dog’s stay!

  • Our trainers are experienced in teaching basic and advanced obedience, socialization, preparing dogs to achieve the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Award and more.

During a Day School program, your dog will be trained during the day and return to you in the evening. At pick-up the trainer will show you what your dog has learned that day and assign you homework so that you can practice working with your dog at home and improve your relationship with them. Day School allows you to see your dog every day and work with them, but Board and Training allows your dog to be focused on their training.

Our Board and Train programs also come with handler training where our trainer will teach you how to interact with your dog.

  • Training is best accomplished in a continuous timeframe. For our board and train dogs, optimum results are best obtained when your dog stays for a month. We realize that may be a difficult thing to do initially before you’ve seen your dog’s incredible training results so, we also offer two-week and one-week sessions if you want to commit to a shorter timeframe. We still can accomplish a significant amount with your dog in these shorter sessions, but results are more consistently obtained with longer stays.

We train your dog in short sessions throughout the day and interact with them in their free play time to augment their stay with us and make it a pleasant and loving experience for them.

  • Training consultations are an opportunity to explain exactly what you want for your dog. This is why we require all clients to attend a training consultation where you will meet one-on-one in a session with our trainer who will evaluate your dog, set goals with you, and come up with a customized training program.

    Schedule your consultation here.

  • We have a large private kennel for your dog with a comfy bed. Our training areas are spacious, secure, safe, and clean. We make sure that your dog has plenty of interaction throughout the day in addition to training sessions where your dog receives the right amount of intellectual and physical interaction.

  • Yep! With our Day School program, you can drop your dog off in the morning, run some errands and then pick them up later in the day. Day School ends with a handler session where you’ll also get a homework assignment to help you bond with your dog. They come in packages of 1, 7, 15 or 30 days and can even be used back-to-back or non-sequentially, however you want! See our training page for more info!

Give us a call or go to our scheduler to book a training consultation where you can speak with one of our trainers to help find the best training option for you and your dog.

  • We train in short sessions throughout the day. Just like a child, (and let’s face it – all of us) your dog has a limited attention span, especially at the beginning of training. We don’t want to mentally or physically fatigue your dog and we want it to be the best experience you can imagine for them. We usually start with 5-minute sessions throughout the day and increase the length of time to your dog’s capacity. Some dogs thrive on training and want to be trained for longer periods of time up to an hour. Other dogs do best with 10-15 minute sessions. However long the session is, we make sure that your dog is getting optimal training benefits without being overly taxed or worn-out during training. We ALWAYS end the session on a good note with your dog having done something well so that they are excited and happy with their accomplishments.

 Boarding Frequently Asked Questions

  • We make sure that your dog is treated to a happy vacation while you’re away. The peace of mind that comes with knowing your dog is safe and happy while you are away is priceless.

We offer small and large kennels as well as luxury cabins with raised comfortable beds. All kennels are clean and secure and have secured water bowls so they won’t spill. We have play yards that are always supervised, safe, and clean, and we screen every dog that comes in for any aggressive behavior so you know your dog will be safe and monitored at all times during play time. We feed your dog either food you supply or we can feed them our high-quality dog food for an additional fee. We can also administer meds you supply.

  • Our experienced Pet Pals are great at fostering relationships with the dogs that come to our facility whether they’ve been there before or not. They are friendly and outgoing with your dog and will gage the type of interaction your dog wants and is comfortable with based on years of experience.

We offer a private and secure kennel for each dog, play time (can be with other dogs or individually), lots of love and interaction, clean kennels (this is very important for your dog’s well-being) and as always treats. We also offer a variety of training courses that you can add on to your dog’s boarding stay.

If you board your dog only during the day, we have a training course that we call Day School where our expert trainers work with your dog throughout the day and teach basic on and off-leash obedience as well as other training courses.

We also can improve behavioral issues such as socialization skills, excessive barking, digging, and indoor manners.

  • In 2021, we renovated the facility that we moved into. We have new kennels, a brand-new bathing and grooming facility (we also offer nail trims), remodeled reception area, and new and improved outside play areas. Our kennels are all safe and secure as are our outdoor play areas. You know when you drop your dog off that they are in good hands.

  • We provide outdoor play time either with other dogs or just with our Play Pal staff! You can indicate which you prefer when you sign up. If your dog exhibits any signs of aggression, it will be exercised without other dogs present. Our Play Pals are always present when your dog is exercising whether it is alone or in a small group. We only exercise dogs together that get along well with one another and always in small groups so your dog never feels overwhelmed.

  • We only put large and small dogs together during play time if you give us specific instructions that your little dog likes to play with a certain bigger dog. Otherwise, no, your little dog will not be put with large dogs and will only play with other little dogs in small groups and always supervised. We carefully screen our client’s dogs for aggression and do not allow aggressive dogs to play with any other dogs.

In addition, all of our dog kennels are designated for individual dogs. However, if you bring dogs that you would like to be together, we have larger kennel options available and can house two of your dogs together if they are large and two or more if they are small dogs.

  • Absolutely, we use enzymatic cleaners and disinfectants that are biodegradable and environmentally friendly. Your pet’s safety is our top priority always.

  • Our team is dedicated to providing excellent care for all of our dogs. Our dogs have free access to water throughout their stay and we closely monitor their health. It is not uncommon for their drinking habits to change while being boarded or away from home. This is normal K9 behavior and most dogs return to normal drinking habits within a couple of days at home, and this might mean they will drink a lot of water upon arriving home because of their excitement for being back with their owner. It is normal for dogs to play right before they are taken home, or drink lots of water upon arriving home as they are back in their normal environment with their owner that they love. It can be helpful to let your dog attend a daycare with us before leaving them for a boarding. Contact us here to set up your first appointment!

  • This is a common condition called kennel nose that is caused by a dog trying to bury their food or get out of their kennel. They may try to get out of their kennel even after a short period of time. These behaviors may be a result of stress or due to the dog being placed in a new environment. We do our best to help our guest pups adjust to their new living space with frequent playtime and a concerted effort to make them feel comfortable but kennel nose can still occur. If you are leaving your dog for overnight boarding for the first time at our facility and you have a reason to think that your dog may do this or has done it in the past, you can prepare by sending your dog to daycare so they can get used to the new environment. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
